The company launched a new group setting where only admins are able to send messages to a group, and to have better tools for these use cases. The new setting allows group chats to be set up so that only approved admins are able to send messages to the group, which should help prevent important information from being lost in a hail of messages from group members. WhatsApp says the feature is intended for certain use cases where groups are used to specifically “receive important announcements, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organizations.” Related Post: You are about to pay for being a Facebook Group member To enable this setting, open Group Info, tap Group Settings > Send Messages and select Only Admins. This setting is rolling out to all users around the world on the latest supported versions of the app. Recently, WhatsApp added a string of features that improve the groups experience. In these, group admins on iOS and Android are able to set a description for their community – explaining the aim and functions of the group or the rules of a group – with the description message appearing when someone checks out the group and also on top of the group chat window when someone joins the group. Administrators are also in position to choose who gets to make changes to the group title, group profile image and other group settings. Group members also get a catch up feature that shows messages that they have been mentioned in, making it easier for users to catch up, especially in fast moving chats.
